What $1,850/Month Can Rent You in New York City

New, 14 comments

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various NYC neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Today's price: $1,850/month.

↑ In Stuyvesant Heights, this pretty one-bedroom is on the top floor of a brownstone building, and gets plenty of light via a couple of skylights. It also has two decorative mantels and a renovated kitchen, all for $1,850.

↓ This Midtown West studio doesn't have a ton of room—there's a Murphy bed in the listing photos, if that's any indicator of its size—but it does have high ceilings, hardwood floors, and a normal-sized kitchen. There's no fee and it's asking $1,850.

↓ On the pro side, this Murray Hill studio is located in a doorman building with an elevator, utilities are included, and there's a regular-sized bathroom. On the con side, it's technically a micro-apartment, measuring only 275 square feet.

↓ In Sunnyside, this one-bedroom apartment is a bit plain, but does have some nice touches, including—wait for it—a dishwasher.

↓ There aren't many details in the listing for this Upper West Side studio (the listing calls it a one-bedroom, but we're not buying it), but it seems to be a decent space for one person: There's a kitchen with plenty of cabinet space, and a few closets.

↓ The listing describes this Kips Bay studio as "luxury looking," which doesn't make a ton of sense; it looks like a fairly standard-issue apartment, albeit with some nice touches like exposed brick and subway tile in the bathroom. The kitchen was also recently renovated.
