What $1,800/Month Can Rent You in New York City

New, 23 comments

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various NYC neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Today's price: $1,800/month.

↑ In Sunnyside, a 650-square-foot one-bedroom can be had for $1,850 per month. Several parts of the apartment—including the bathroom, kitchen, and windows—are newly renovated, and there's laundry and bike storage on site. The unit is located in a charming pre-war building, but fair warning: pets aren't allowed.

↑ This Crown Heights two-bedroom was recently renovated, but that didn't change the configuration of the apartment: there's a galley kitchen that leads into the living room, and the common area is basically as big as one of the bedrooms. But it's close to the subway!

↑ The listing for this Lower East Side one-bedroom touts the fact that it's an "impossible deal," being an apartment of its size under $1,800. The unit has a kitchen-living room combo and an actual bedroom, with a door and everything.

↑ Situated across the street from Fort Tryon Park, this Inwood one-bedroom is a true one-bedroom, with a sizable kitchen, living room, and sleeping area. There's even a foyer that looks large enough to fit a coat rack, if you so choose. The building also has a laundry room.

↑ This two-bedroom in Prospect Lefferts Gardens has a renovated kitchen with brand-new appliances, along with nice wooden floors. The location is also ideal: It's only a few blocks from Prospect Park.

↑ This Upper East Side studio is nicely configured, with a kitchen separated from the rest of the living space, and new appliances and granite countertops. There's also a full bathroom, but not the largest amount of closet space, so be warned.
