First Look Inside Norman Foster and Aby Rosen's Midtown Condos

After many years and setbacks, Norman Foster's glassy condo tower at 100 East 53rd Street—which has been renamed One Hundred East Fifty Third Street—is rising, although sales have yet to launch publicly. But that doesn't mean you can't get a peek inside the building: Dezeen revealed a batch of new renderings for the tower, including some never-seen interior renders. Those interiors, designed by William T. Georgis, are nice, if not a little bland—think lots of light wood and marble everywhere. Apartments also have floor-to-ceiling windows, which follow the form of the faceted exterior. Building amenities include a private pool and "site-specific artwork"; the latter is no surprise, considering developer Aby Rosen's reputation as a modern-art enthusiastic (though not a Picasso fan, apparently). These renders seem to nod to that, with pieces by Alexander Calder, Mark Rothko, and Rosen's buddy Jeff Koons casually placed throughout. The building itself abuts the Seagram Building, another Rosen holding; the light, glass-sheathed tower is meant to complement Mies Van Der Rohe's darker, iconic structure next door.
