What $5,000/Month Can Rent You In New York City

New, 19 comments

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various NYC neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Today's price: $5,000/month.

↑ In a full-service building on West 52nd Street in Hell's Kitchen, there's a two-bedroom that's "completely wired for remote controlled window treatment, recessed lighting and surround sound." It has a large open kitchen, a powder room with a washer and dryer, and a full bathroom with a double vanity. The building has a gym and rooftop terrace. It's asking $4,950 per month.

↑ Located few blocks south of Columbia University on the Upper West Side, this renovated four-bedroom is on the market for $5,000/month. The listing says it has an "efficient & functional layout," and judging from the photos, that might translate as "very small." But it's newly renovated, the kitchen has a dishwasher and washer/dryer, and there are a lot of windows.

↑ For $5,000/month in Fort Greene, you can rent the garden level of a townhouse a block away from Fort Greene Park. The two-bedroom measures 1,400 square feet and comes with a private backyard and patio. There's also a cellar level for storage and a washer/dryer.

↑ A quirky 750-square-foot, one-bedroom duplex on the Upper East Side listed for $5,000/month features a fireplace, built-in shelving, dark hardwood floors, and a marble bathroom. It's located on the top floor of an 11-story building less than two blocks from Central Park.

↑ In a newly revamped Chelsea building, there's a spacious no-fee one-bedroom (or less spacious two-bedroom) asking $4,950/month (that's after 1 month free). It has a sunken living room and hardwood floors. Sink-on-a-door bar table/ice bucket not included.

↑ A two-bedroom in Williamsburg that's "literally two blocks away from the Bedford Ave L" is listed for $5,000/month. It measures 1,100 square feet and features two private outdoor spaces and two full bathrooms. So this is perfect for roommates who never want to deal with each other.
