What $1,500/Month Can Rent You in New York City

New, 28 comments

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various NYC neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Today's price: $1,500/month.

↑ "The bedroom is cozy," reads the listing for this Fort Greene one-bedroom, "but the living space is expansive." Without a floor plan, it's hard to tell exactly how expansive we're talking; but the both rooms have windows, and the kitchen has a normal-sized refrigerator and stove, which is better than many of the apartments available for only $1,550 per month.

↑ This small Boerum Hill studio has a good location going for it: It's on a quiet block just around the corner from the Atlantic Ave-Barclays Center subway station. Though the apartment is fairly minuscule—it measures 12 feet by 16 feet, plus a full-sized bathroom—it could be the perfect place for someone who doesn't stay at home very much.

↑ In Crown Heights, this one-bedroom apartment (which, according to the listing, can also be set up as "a liveble studio with separate home office") has a full bathroom and kitchen with new, stainless steel appliances.

↑ The listing for this Forest Hills studio touts the apartment's various amenities—it has a washer-dryer and a whirlpool tub; a live-in super; and pets are allowed—which makes up for its slightly basic interiors.

↑ This Harlem one-bedroom has the benefit of being rent stabilized, as well as being near neighborhood landmarks like Strivers' Row and St. Nicholas Park. The kitchen is a good size, but the listing reveals few details about the rest of the space.
