Seven Sample Sales Worth Your Time (and Money) This Week

Need to boil down your shopping to-do list to just the essentials? This week is a great one for sample sales in New York City. There are seven sales in particular that shouldn't be skipped, mostly from contemporary labels that'll have apparel available for under $100 — plus one high-end name that'll undoubtedly carry jaw-dropping pieces (and hopefully the price tags to match).

Cosabella

Yesterday, the brand known for its lingerie selection kicked off its first sample sale dedicated to just swimwear, offering up to 70% off retail prices on women's swimwear. Prices start at $25 for bikini separates and $50 for one-pieces.

Thakoon

Shop pieces from the spring/summer 2016 collection for up to 90% off retail prices. The last time we visited this sale, we found true samples under $100, but mostly in sizes 2 to 4. This is taking place in an office building, and you'll need to show your ID at the front desk for admission. [Update: This sale has been extended through Friday!]

Oscar de la Renta

Arrive ready to shop super-fancy-but-super-discounted ready-to-wear, fur, gowns, bridal, and accessories. Last time, we found mostly ready-to-wear and accessories marked down up to 80% off, which still made things pretty pricey — but that was at another sale venue, so we're likely to see a marked difference in both selection and prices.

150 Greene St, Soho. Tue 10am—8pm, Wed—Sat 11am—8pm, Sun 11am—5pm.

Elizabeth and James

On Tuesday, expect discounts on women's clothing, jewelry and eyewear. If this sale is anything like last season's, you'll see tees for $25, pants for $70, dresses and skirts for $250, and leather jackets for $300. Samples were even cheaper, starting at just $20.

260 Fifth Ave, Midtown South. Tue—”Thu 10am—8pm, Fri—Sat 10am—7pm, Sun 10am—3pm.

Yigal Azrouël

Based on previous sales, we're expecting prices that aren't crazy cheap, but hopefully most items are still at a great discount — especially in regards to the brand's offshoot label Cut25 — beginning on Tuesday. Last time, we saw coats starting at $195, dresses for $175, pants and tops for $95, and knits at $150.

225 W 39th St, 5th floor, Garment District. Tue 11am—7pm, Wed—Thu 9am—7pm.

Prabal Gurung

This small but absolutely gorgeous sample just announced its sale dates at its Garment District offices. Sizes tend to be limited — mostly sizes 0 through 4, with occasional 6s and 10s thrown in, we've found in the past — but the true samples are a serious steal that are often priced even better than the advertised discount.

Veda

On Thursday, brace yourself for a rainbow of leather jackets, from metallic blue to rose, army green, and fire engine red, priced around $325. In addition, last time there was select apparel that started at a budget-friendly $25 — so here's hoping. [Update: You can shop the sale with VIPs on Wednesday night!]
