The Shoes to Grab Before Summer’s Over

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Not to get all depressing with the “summer’s more than halfway over” talk, but it’s a fact. You might be tempted to reach for boots over slides as soon as fall merchandise hits shelves at your favorite stores, but there’s still plenty of time to break in new opened-toed shoes before the season closes. Check out the latest round of new mules and sandals at some of New York’s best stores below.

Brandblack Kashiba slides, $40 at Life:Curated (186 Grand Street)

Brandblack’s streamlined slides pair nicely with fresh white oxford shirts and dresses (or fresh white oxford shirtdresses).

Intentionally Blank suede touch mules, $134 at Assembly New York (170 Ludlow Street)

The slightly distressed toe on Intentionally Blank’s mules should make you less nervous about putting suede on New York’s unpredictable sidewalks.

Double band slides, $195 at Barneys (660 Madison Avenue)

Add depth to your summer color palette by contrasting summer brights with Barneys’ earth-toned slides.

Tibi furry slides

Kellen slides, $395 at Tibi (120 Wooster Street)

Tibis latest update to its Kellen slides features a lot more texture, but in a softer hue.

Dahl sandals, $449 at Rachel Comey (95 Crosby Street)

Take denim somewhere unexpected (your feet) and add a hint of floral, courtesy of Rachel Comey.
