A Pop-Up for Kardashian-Favored Sporty Swimwear Is Opening on the Lower East Side

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Just because it’s swimwear doesn’t mean it has to be "skimpy," and Vancouver-based designer Beth Richards gets that. In some cases, you don’t even realize that some of her pieces are meant to be worn in the water — the line between what’s swimwear and what’s activewear is seriously blurred. (which is why Khloé Kardashian wore the knot top for her recent Shape magazine feature).

Now, Richards is dipping her toe in the pop-up waters for her very first shop, opening today on the Lower East Side.

You’ll find the brand’s spring 2016 and resort 2016 collections in stock at the small set-up that’s right next to Morgenstern’s Ice Cream. There’s a lot of black and white here, with a few pieces in light gray and baby blue and one standout cherry print. Pieces are generally priced between $120 and $250.

Swimsuits take up much of the racks, but you’ll also find rash guards, spandex shorts and leggings, sports bras, and a fun football jersey-esque coverup made in collaboration with The Haute Pursuit. Outside of the sporty realm are her new one-pieces and bikini tops that are ruffled at the shoulder.

Active beachgoers who want to get in on a game of pickup volleyball without fear of wardrobe malfunctions should definitely be checking this out. The Beth Richards NYC Summer Shop is open daily from 11am to 7pm at 2 Rivington Street through July 10th.
