The Comptoir des Cotonniers Sample Sale Is a Little Bit Cheaper Now (Update)

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Update: As of Thursday morning, Comptoir des Cotonniers merchandise is an extra 30% off sale prices, Julie Brown is an extra 35% off sale prices, and Joe's Jeans are an extra 25% off sale prices. Prices on Mar y Sol merchandise has been reduced as well. Original sale prices are reflected in the report below and in the gallery captions above.

The Comptoir des Cotonniers sample sale kicked off this morning at 11am and when we popped in to survey the merchandise just before doors opened, we were pleased to find not just a vast amount of Comptor, but also a pretty good selection from Joe's Jeans and Julie Brown NYC, too.

The real draw here is the Comptoir pieces, considering that the French brand closed all of its US stores last month. Inside 261 West 36th Street, we found tank tops ($19), blouses ($39), sweaters and cardigans ($39), skirts ($39), shorts and pants ($29), dresses ($59), jackets ($59), coats ($99), and shoes ($39).

It's worth noting here that there's an impressive amount of clothing out on the floor at first glance, the majority of the sizes we pulled off of the rack were 42s or 44s. But in the very back, next to the shoes, we noticed several bins of pants marked as samples in sizes 32 to 44 — so that's probably your best bet if you aren't a 42 or 44.

There are a good amount of Julie Brown NYC maxi dresses and sleeveless tops, Joe's Jeans jeans and pants, plus a few jean jackets and Mar y Sol straw hats. As we were leaving, we noticed a Phyllis & Rosie jewelry stand being set up just ahead of the registers.
