Proenza Schouler Is Your Best Bet at This Handbag Sample Sale

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Update: As of Wednesday morning, select bags are now up to 85% off retail prices. Original sale prices are reflected below and in the gallery captions above.

Century 21's fancy offshoot C21 Edition kicked off its handbag event this morning, advertising up to 75% off bags from brands like Jimmy Choo, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Lanvin, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tod's, Céline, and Proenza Schouler. When we stopped by the sale just after the doors opened, we quickly learned that the Proenza deals had the best bang for your buck.

As soon as you enter the venue, you're greeted by clutches enclosed in a glass case from Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, and Jimmy Choo. Just across from that you'll find a shelf full of Céline Cabas totes marked 60% off of the ticketed price in assorted sizes and materials, including a medium two-tone pink ($680), a medium bright blue croc ($1,400), and a large yellow option ($520).

Just to the left of Céline, you'll find the selection of Proenza Schouler bags, 50% off of their ticketed price. Here we found an impressive selection of PS1 backpacks ($875), PS1 Tinys in blue suede ($720) and gray wool ($737.50), with fringe ($997.50), and with paint splatters ($720). We also spotted mini Kent bags ($845).

And to the left of Proenza are bags from Valentino, Jimmy Choo, and Salvatore Ferragamo, all for 50% off of their respective ticketed prices.

Overall, nothing here qualifies as "cheap," but if you were planning on investing in a name-brand bag in the near future, this is the place to do it. Click through the gallery above to see our favorite picks from the sale and check out the Dealfeed below for more about when you can stop by.
