There Are a Lot of Maryam Nassir Zadeh Shoes in Chinatown Right Now

We stopped by the Maryam Nassir Zadeh sale in Chinatown this morning for one reason and one reason only: Shoes. The boutique owner and designer makes this one cult-favorite mule that fashion insiders are obsessed with — as are other labels — so we went in search of them during the VIP hours.

Unfortunately, we came up empty-handed. Either the early shoppers grabbed them all, or there were a very limited number to begin with; it's likely a combination of the two. We only spotted a single beat-up pair in mint green in a size 36.

However, these were sitting among a sea of other MNZ shoes, which are all priced at $175. While the simplistic pricing keeps you from looking for price stickers under every sole, it creates a drastic discount discrepancy between styles — you're paying the same for simple flat sandals with a thin strap or two as you are for light pink Chelsea booties.

Be sure to double-check sizes, because even though shelves are supposed to be organized by size, shoppers were definitely putting things back in the wrong place. Other shoe brands are represented here throughout the sale, including Martiniano styles for $240 and a bunch of Dieppa Restrepo yellow perforated flats for $90.

Be careful when you're browsing clothing — on one rack in particular, nearly everything we picked up had at least one very noticeable stain. At least they were priced accordingly, though, like the sample buttery-soft leather peplum top in light pink for just $75, and a pair of Jeremy Laing pinstripe shorts for just $30.

We were particularly in love with a Damir Doma piece in a rose gold-copper tone for $200 that looks a lot like those duster coats Chrissy Teigan always wears, plus a blue Golden Goose short peacoat with a huge safety pin through it for $350, more than a $1,000 off the original price. As for bags, we wistfully looked at a suede pink Rochas tote that was still $500.
