The Frette Sample Sale Will Make Your Bed (Better)

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Italian luxury bedding brand Frette just began its Chelsea Market sample sale this morning, right on schedule for a spring cleaning/redecorating binge. The doors were supposed to open at 10am, but when we got there 10 minutes prior, the sale was already in full force.

The first thing you will notice when you get inside are the tables full of packaged bedding with seemingly no rhyme or reason to their organization. This center section, though, is mostly all sheets and coverlets that start at $169. Some items we found here include the Sempione King sheet set in ivory ($889) and the Luxmila King coverlet ($999) — check out the gallery above to see more.

If you're looking for duvets, we found 100% cotton king duvet covers starting at $189 for basic white (originally $390) and queen duvets starting at $179 for the same style. As far as fashion bedding goes, we came across the Lux Brera queen duvet for $679 (originally $1,760) and the king Jackie Light Quilt in green and nordic blue for $399. Randomly, we also saw some men's slippers just behind the duvets that start at $149.

Along the far right wall, you'll find decorative pillows (starting at $149) and shams including European and standard sizes, for $49 apiece. The pillows aren't all marked, so if you get confused there are associates on the floor wearing all black who can help with pricing inquiries. In the very back of the sale, you'll see duvet inserts ($249), mattress toppers (starting at $169), and pillows ($59).

There are stacks of towels all along the lefthand wall in basically every color. Prices start at $5 for wash clothes and go up to $50 for bath sheets. Towels are all individually priced. There is also a small amount of home accessories near the registers starting at $39 for bathroom accessories and $79 for small leather goods.

If you're looking to send gifts to friends and family, Frette will ship your purchases anywhere in the country for a $25 flat fee. The sale runs through Sunday; see the Dealfeed below for more details.
