Lorraine Kirke, mother to actress Jemima Kirke, is closing her West Village vintage boutique, Geminola, after 12 years in business on Perry Street. WWD reports that the neighborhood's dramatically-changing landscape is the reason for Kirke's departure.

The storeowner tells WWD, "I just decided it was time to move on, the West Village is now just a completely different vibe." She adds, "It used to be a village and I don't think the West Village is a village now — it's a place for billionaires."

The West Village is, of course, home to several Marc Jacobs stores and big chains like Intermix and upscale mall brands like Michael Kors and Coach. Bleecker Street now more closely resembles Broadway in Soho, and is a far cry from the actual "village" it was when Kirke moved in.

Up until it closes, which WWD says will be sometime before the end of May, merchandise is marked down up to half off retail prices.
