If you're planning on heading to the Comme des Garçons sale today, make sure you have sunscreen, snacks, and a completely free afternoon, because you're going to be waiting a long, long time in direct sunlight to get in. Also make sure to bring a lot of cash or a credit card with a high limit, because once you actually do get in, the pickings are still very good.
Even an hour after the doors opened, the line was still snaking down the highway, and a constant stream of people were tacking themselves onto the end. Security was only letting in small groups at a time, so the sale itself wasn't crowded — great for shopping, but not great for waiting.
Inside, what you'll find is comparable to what was at yesterday's VIP sale, but it's been noticeably restocked with new additions. For women, these were primarily in clothing and included some new coats, a lot of capes, tops and T-shirts, and dresses. Unfortunately, the shoe area was looking a bit sparse, as the only additions in the women's shoe department were a couple Miu Miu styles priced for $140 and $106.
The men's area also had some new pieces scattered throughout, including jackets, slacks, and shirts. Unlike the women's section, a lot more new shoes styles for $216.
If you get hungry or thirsty during your wait to get in, you'll find a small cart from Rose Bakery (just like at Dover Street Market) selling refreshments inside. When we were there, the people working it were looking very lonely — understandably, the long-waiting CDG fans only wanted to spend money on things they could wear, not things they could eat.
