A Comprehensive Look at the Madison Avenue Stores 'Coming Soon'

We make it our job to keep track of all of the new stores coming for what's in our wallets, and we've been keeping tabs on a few retailers in particular that have us chomping at the bit to get a look beyond the papered windows and constructions facades — and they all happen to be on Madison Avenue.

Stores like Aquazurra, Stella McCartney, The Row, Isabel Marant, and Hanley have maintained that they are "coming soon" for what seems like for-ev-er at this point. We just want to know — yo, Madison Avenue, where are all of our new stores?

We decided to investigate. Below, a comprehensive status report of our findings:

Aquazurra, 935 Madison Avenue

When it first announced: December 2015.

When they said it would open: February 2016, just in time for New York Fashion Week.

What it looks like now: Well, there is signage, at least; the future home of Moynat right next door doesn't even have that going for it.

When we think it'll actually open: Who knows. We can't see beyond that fancy paper, and if its neighbors are any indication, we have a few months to go. Seriously, the men inside were still wearing hard hats.

Stella McCartney, 929 Madison Avenue

When it first announced: Maybe we jumped the gun here because the designer only said that she was "looking" to add this address to her roster in November 2015.

When they said it would open: Since it was just a rumor, n/a.

What it looks like now: It looks like another store entirely — because it is.

When we think they'll actually open: Not for some time. Mallet still needs to exit the premises.

The Row, 17 East 71st Street

When it first announced: We all gave tight-lipped smiles in celebration a little over a year ago.

When they said they'd open: WWD said by the end of 2015.

What it looks like now: Behind schedule. It looks behind schedule. But we're really into that second floor window situation.

When we think they'll actually open: When the Olsens make a guest appearance on Fuller House. Just kidding — we have no clue.

Isabel Marant, 23 East 67th Street

When it first announced: Back in December, the brand announced it would move into the space that features a private rear garden.

When they said it would open: The first few months of 2016, so round of applause for them.

What it looks like now: Isabel Marant is about that Madison Avenue life. We didn't see an actual opening date posted, but the store's hours already are, so things look promising.

When we think it'll actually open: We wouldn't be surprised if this boutique made its debut within the month.

Hanley, 29 East 61st Street

When it first announced: We first learned of this store in the summer of 2015, when the line had only been in existence for just under a year.

When they said they'd open: We were told January 2016, and, well...

What it looks like now: Not great. In fact, two construction workers told us to move as we gawked at the scaffolding while looking for the address.

When we think they'll actually open: Bleh.
