The Elie Tahari Sample Sale Has Lots of Elegant Work Clothes (Update)

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Update: As of Wednesday afternoon, everything is now 80% off its retail price. The original 75% discount is reflected in our report below and in the gallery above.

The Elie Tahari sample sale kicked off this morning in the gorgeous C21 Edition space downtown, and everything is a flat 75% off its ticketed price — so have your calculator pulled up and ready to go.

You'll find dresses, jackets, blazers, and tops to the left of the entrance on the first floor. We liked a black neoprene fit-and-flare dress with red stitching and lining for $99.50, down from $398. A wool-blend jacket with a crackle-print front also stood out ($124.50). In skirts, a gray suede pencil skirt ($62) was a favorite. We also liked a thin leather pencil skirt that had an elastic waistband and was priced at $187, down from $748. There are also a few blazers towards the back of this section that are priced around $100.

There are more dresses, pants, and sweaters on the first floor by the fitting rooms. We found the selection of pants to be fairly bizarre — a dark pair of jeans with a blue print at the bottom ($62) took up most of the racks. Another pair with mesh panels at the calf ($49.50) was equally puzzling. The sweaters in this section all had unusual cuts, but we liked a white style with an asymmetrical hem ($87).

The best part of the second floor is the coat section, which is on the left-hand side of the space. A shiny purple raincoat-inspired style stood out ($99.50), as did a stunning black coat with neoprene sleeves and calf hair panels at the front and collar ($274.50). We also liked a blue snake-embossed leather jacket with curved hip details ($69.75).

There are more dresses in the center of the floor, with tops, pants, and skirts to the right. — much of what's here are repeats of what's on the first floor, but you can find some new stuff if you dig, like a leather tank top with knit trim and straps and a colorful pencil skirt in a paneled, striped design, both going for $74.50.

Activewear is upstairs as well, and we liked a pair of soft joggers with moto details for $32. Finally, there's a rack of jumpsuits at the top of the stairs, including a nice black style for $124.50.

There are fitting rooms on both floors, but there's a limit of four garments at a time. The sale runs through Friday at 6pm, check out the Dealfeed below for more details.
