Everything at the Swanky Roberto Cavalli Sample Sale Is Either For the Beach or Fancy Parties

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

For the first time ever, 260 Sample Sale is hosting Roberto Cavalli at its Soho outpost. The sample sale opened at 11 a.m. this morning, but we stopped by during the early morning preview hours to get the lay of the land.

After checking your coat, bag, and umbrella, you'll find men's items immediately to the right of the coat check — two racks of T-shirts ($75), jackets ($180), outerwear ($300), and sweaters ($170). Just to the left of that is an alcove of fancy women's dresses, where prices depend on the collection. Anything from 2015 is marked by collection on the tag and costs $1,820. If it's not marked, it's from 2014 or earlier and costs $2,400.

In the middle of the room are racks and racks of glittery short party dresses ($260—$980) and evening gowns ($980—$2,400), skirts and pants ($280—$900), jackets ($720—$1,360) like the fascinating metallic silver one shown in the gallery above, tops ($190—$420), and outerwear ($660—$1,300).

Along the back of the sale, there are bins of beachwear ($110—$340), tons of scarves ($120), and an unimpressive selection of shoes ($120).

Everything here is a perfect outfit for one of two scenarios: your next fancy party or your next resort trip. The true winners are the dresses, both party and gowns, but the breezy resort wear is worth a look, too — basically, this is the sale to hit if you're planning a vacation in the near future.

The Roberto Cavalli sale runs through Sunday. Check out the Dealfeed below for more information, and head to the sample sales list to see everything else that's going on.
