MIDTOWN—The North Face, the brand whose fleeces have graced the upper bodies of pretty much everyone who has ever lived in a cold weather climate, is taking Joe Fresh's old spot at 510 Fifth Avenue, The Real Deal reports. The California-based chain has stores on the Upper West Side and Soho already, but this nearly 20,000-square foot location will serve as its flagship; the publication adds that The North Face is looking for a larger space in Soho, too.

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN—The Fulton Street Macy's major renovations that'll ultimately shrink its footprint by 100,000 square feet are finally set to begin in a few weeks. The Wall Street Journal has renderings of the final project, and adds that the store will remain open during construction.

EAST VILLAGE—Sad news, thrifters: Cadillac's Castle, the consignment shop named after the owner's dog, is no more, EV Grieve noticed. The empty store is next to the space recently vacated by Fabulous Fanny's.

LOWER EAST SIDEBedford + Bowery is reporting that record store Deadly Dragon Sound System will close on April 16th after 11 years, since the building's landlord declined to renew the business' lease. According to the goodbye letter the local blog posted, owners and DJs Jeremy Freeman and Jason DeBeck will continue selling records online while they look for a new location.
