Patrik Ervell Scouts Out His Own Sample Sale

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The biannual Patrik Ervell sample sale kicks off at noon today, and if you're planning on taking the five-story walk up to the brand's Soho studio, you won't be disappointed. Its skylit space is full of deeply discounted menswear and a minute selection of even lower-priced womenswear.

Ervell himself walked us through his sale last night, and we found a range of eccentric outerwear up to 80% off retail prices, including rain duffle coats ($200), mohair bombers ($350) and white insulated winter parkas ($250). Men will be delighted to find shirts starting at just $50.

In true Patrik Ervell style, you'll find staples made in non-traditional fabrics like charcoal flannel slub, cotton/nylon tech fabric, and so much more. Prices on specialty shirts range from $50 to $125; scroll through the photo gallery to see the designer's top picks.

Head to the back of the studio to find tee-shirts for $40, two racks full of $50 button-down shirts from previous seasons, and a small selection of womenswear. The selection is exactly the same as last time, but now it's cheaper. Among the womenswear, we found a single navy wool pea coat for $200 and a slew of chunky cardigan sweaters for $50. And don't forget that the menswear runs small — we spotted more than a few styles that women could call their own.

Men's sweaters were only $90, and included variegated rib styles and baby alpaca pullovers in neutral hues of oatmeal and black. There was no shortage of men's spring weight blazers ($75—90) and pants that ranged from heavy twill trousers to vented track pants ($75). If you need to try on your pants, there is a semi-private communal fitting room set up.

This sale felt less stocked than previous years, but there still are good deals to be had, so don't miss out. We were told that all styles were on the floor, but they will restock sizes of the shirt from previous seasons found on the $50 rack. Check out the Dealfeed below to see when you're able to stop by.
