Flying Tiger Will Open on the Upper West Side, Too

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Shoutout to West Side Rag for pointing out to us that Flying Tiger is opening not just one, but two uptown locations. The local blog pointed out that our favorite store for finding pink wigs, notepads shaped like hamburgers, and toilet bowl brushes (see above, strategically positioned next to "toilet golf") for less than $10 — collectively, not apiece — is headed to 424 Columbus Avenue and expected to open before the end of the year, though an exact timeline was not revealed.

Just last week, the Danish home goods brand revealed that its second New York City store would arrive on the Upper East Side's Third Avenue in April, following up on the success of its Flatiron debut. Thankfully, managing director Tina Kanter confirmed that this store will have the same Ikea-reminiscent maze set-up, and we think it's safe to assume that the Upper West Side will look the same.
