The Manolo Blahnik Sale Sample Is Really Crowded

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Manolo Blahnik's semi-annual sample sale was underway this morning at The Warwick Hotel, just down the street from the high-end brand's boutique. We popped into the sale just before doors opened at 11 a.m. to find good prices, but we couldn't help but notice that the majority of the shoes read more mother-of-the-bride than Carrie Bradshaw.

The good news is there were tons of shoes to pick from, and we noticed a lot of the same styles were available in various sizes. We didn't see many of the plain leather, suede, or satin shoes (the cheapest option at $125), but there was a good selection of those with glitter, rhinestones, embroidery, and tweed for $150. If you dig, you can find a few pairs with the signature crystal front buckle.

There's also plenty of boots, with ankle styles starting at $200, and over-the-knee options going up to $500. Click through the gallery above to see a few of the styles we saw.

There weren't many aggressive shoppers when we were there, and we even spotted a few notable editors casually trying on their potential purchases. But be warned: as we were leaving the sale, there were no less than 75 women waiting at the door for entry.

We spied a few bins under the tables for restocking but we wouldn't bank on the selection changing too much between now and when the sale closes — Manolo Blahnik doesn't specify a time, but just packs it in when they're out of shoes. Be sure to visit an ATM before heading to Sixth Avenue and 54th Street, as this sale is cash only.
