Every couple of years, the Metropolitan Museum of Art clears out its backstock of publications with a major sale, and the home of Manus x Machina just put another one on the books (sorry, we couldn't help it) for next week. Starting Friday, June 10th, head uptown to find fancy hardcovers on art, fashion, design, and architecture that are just waiting to grace a coffee table.
A good portion of the selection will have stickers bearing $1, $5, and $10 price points, and just about all of the titles will be under $50.
Expect to find titles like ones that accompany the Costume Institute's exhibits, including Charles James: Beyond Fashion for $37.50 (originally $50). Other books you'll find include Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artist, Fifty Years for $45 (originally $60) and Unique by Design: Contemporary Jewelry in the Donna Schenier Collection for $18.70 (originally $24.95).
The quantity of a particular title (there will be more than a hundred different ones released throughout the sale's month-long run) could range from hundreds of copies to just a single one — so if you've had your eye on something particular, it's worth shopping frequently. It's taking place during regular museum hours, and the store is located right inside the 81st Street entrance.
