Barneys Freezes Hood By Air's Spring 2016 Show In Time in Its Madison Avenue Windows

It's an avant-garde spring day in Paris, at least according to Barneys New York. The Madison Avenue flagship just debuted new windows that recreate Hood By Air's spring 2016 show in extreme detail — right down to the model's tattoos and custom grills, Vogue noted.

"The process of making this happen was one of the most complex things we've ever done," Barneys creative director Dennis Freedman told Vogue.com. "It was months and months of work." According to the department store, six male models sat for a 3D body scan to create the silicon and plaster molds used here, which were then covered to match each models' flesh tone before details like glass eyeballs and individual eyebrow hairs were added.

To recreate the setting in which creative director Shayne Oliver presented his street label last June, the department store used fluorescent lights to mimic the bright afternoon sun and gray walls to represent the show's venue. Oliver told Barneys' blog The Window that he helped to create the music passersby will hear pumping through the speakers, too.

"For me, a lot of these guys are the new versions of beauty," Oliver added about this project. "I think it's appropriate for them to be on pedestals in this way, and it's really cool that Barneys took time to appreciate and expose these individuals in this way and to this extent through this replication. It's truly groundbreaking."
