An Amazon Store Is Coming to Hudson Yards

Amazon isn’t all two-day shipping and drones. The e-commerce giant is opening a brick-and-mortar bookstore and café at Hudson Yards, adding to the new neighborhood’s line-up of 100-plus shops, the New York Post discovered via a source who says the deal is all but officially finalized.

The paper is speculating that the store would act as a showroom for its Kindle e-readers and Fire tablets. It’ll likely be similar to the company’s first bookstore in Seattle, which might soon be one of many.

And since this neighborhood is set to be a trendy one — Neiman Marcus is anchoring the store lineup, Coach and L’Oreal have offices here, and it’ll play host to New York Fashion Week down the line — Amazon could potentially use this space tapping into the fashion scene, providing customers a chance to shop its in-house clothing brands like Franklin & Freeman and North Eleven IRL.

Hudson Yards isn’t scheduled to be completed until 2024, but Amazon’s store is slated to open within the next three years, along with other stores like Neiman Marcus.
