Saturday marked the return of the famous Coney Island Mermaid Parade. Each year, thousands of people flock to Brooklyn to see the Neptune King, Queen Mermaid, and all of the floats for the city's unofficial start of summer.

For the 34th year running, the event attracted a bevy of participants and onlookers, who brought with them their best headpieces, seashell tops, and a ton of sequins and glitter. See a few of our favorites in the gallery.
