The Met’s Costume Institute Show ‘Manus x Machina’ Has Already Been Extended

Good news for those who have been slacking on high-culture excursions this summer. The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced this morning that its spring Costume Institute exhibit Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology has been extended through Monday of Labor Day weekend. It had previously been set to close on August 14th.

The museum says that since its early May debut, the tech-meets-fashion exhibit has brought in 350,000 visitors, just slightly less than 2015’s China: Through the Looking Glass and 2011’s Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty had drawn in during that same time frame. Those ended up being the fifth- and eighth-most popular exhibitions, respectively, in the museum’s history.

Manus x Machina hasn’t subjected visitors to any crazy lines to get in just yet (anyone else having Savage Beauty flashbacks?), but these things tend to get crowded when people realize the days to see it are numbered — so plan accordingly.
