Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

More is more inside Aquazzura's first American store. The Italian brand that's responsible for some of the most popular footwear styles as of late — think lace-up ballet flats and lots of heels with fringe — quietly opened its Madison Avenue doors on Saturday after months of anticipation. And last night, celebs like Nicky Hilton Rothschild and H.R.H Princess Beatrice of York gathered for a buzzy cocktail party at the 2,221-square foot store that's done up in the brands's signature black and white stripes.

"I wanted it to be a church of shoes," co-founder and creative director Edgardo Osorio told Footwear News of the design. The multiple arches certainly give the space that holy effect. The entire place just begs for you to touch something, whether it's the plush velvet couches, the suede walls, marble floors, or the gold shelving holding endless options of that popular flat.

Diptyque Ambre candles burn throughout, helping set the tone to what feels like an ode to femininity and luxury pampering in the form of fashion. The space has a rose-tinted glow, and a sales associate confirmed to us that that lighting was created intentionally so as to flatter multiple skin tones.

Basically, Aquazurra is the dressing room that you wish you had in your tiny apartment. Go forth and #selfie in your new shoes — light-up phone case not required.
