New York’s Fashion Forecast for Wednesday, July 13th, 2016

Welcome to Fashion Forecast, where you can find out what New York City’s weather will be like today — and most importantly, how to dress for it.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Good morning! Today is Wednesday, July 13th, 2016, and right about now in Midtown Manhattan, weather.com says that temperatures are in the low 70s. It’ll be slightly more humid today than it was yesterday when temps hit the mid-80s by early afternoon — and feel more like high 80s — but that’ll be countered by some wind that’s definitely stronger than your average summer breeze.

It’ll be ushering in some isolated thunderstorms overnight, but it’s not expected to be anything worth worrying about for daytime. But if you like to Always Be Prepared, stash an umbrella (and maybe a hair tie) in your bag, especially if you’re going out straight after work.

So what should you wear today? Color, most definitely. Perk up the middle of the week with bright shades you might think are too bold together, like this orange and red combo. Trust, it’s just bold enough. Keep the fabrics and the jewelry light — again, humidity — and don’t fuss too much with makeup, since all the focus will be on your wardrobe anyway.

Now make room for the realization that you’re already halfway through the week:
