Freemans Sporting Club's Super Bowl Sample Sale Is for Fancy Gentlemen

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The sample sale at Freemans Sporting Club resembles an elegant men's dress shop thanks to its really good selection of wool suiting, blazers, shirts, pants, and outerwear. We popped into the Lower East Side store last night before the sale officially started to take a look at the merchandise, and though we didn't spot any $10 tee-shirts this time around, you won't be disappointed with what's available at 70% off retail prices.

When you first enter the store, there is a trunk on the right-hand side full of assorted ties, marked down to $33 (originally $110). Next to that is a row of wool suiting in dark colors. In the center of the room is where you'll find the best deals: assorted camp-style shirts in various colorways and patterns. We especially liked a navy option that was reduced to $66 (originally $220).

Under the table of shirts, you'll find bins of pants designated by size. We pulled out cords ($70.50), tweed ($118.50), and khaki pants. On the rack to the left, you'll find variety of blazers, including tweed, denim, corduroy, and plaid, all priced under $300. Click through the gallery above to see a sampling of what we saw.

The sale is pretty straightforward; the first half of the store, give or take, is discounted 70% off the ticketed price through Sunday, when the sale ends. There are fitting rooms available and sale associates on-hand to check for sizing or offer style advice. Check out the Dealfeed below for more information.
