The Swords-Smith Sample Sale Is a Discounted Indie Haven

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Indie haven Swords-Smith is hosting a massive, multi-designer sample sale at 98 South 4th Street on its selection of women's and men's apparel and shoes, plus jewelry and accessories for women, that's now marked up to 90% off retail prices. We popped into the Williamsburg boutique last night to preview the goods — and trust us, you won't want to miss this sale.

Block off a solid chunk of time to allow yourself to slowly piece through the racks to make sure you don't miss anything, especially if extra-small or small isn't your size — mediums and larges were harder to come by, but they're still still readily available. Now, for the clothes.

Standout women's pieces include Samuji mohair coats ($350) and jumpsuits ($167), Priory cropped pants ($95), Samantha Pleet dresses — including one with an emoji-gem-looking pattern ($195) — Nikki Chasin long vests ($225), and Swords-Smith two-toned pants ($58) mixed in among the multiple racks of discounted clothing.

As for accessories, we found scarves priced as low as $15, cashmere lined gloves starting at $80, assorted necklaces, a super cute "cash" midi ring ($38), and some totes ($75). In shoes, expect a solid offering from Wal & Pai (like clogs for $195), Arianna Bohling (sandals were $95) and Armando Cabral, including Alpaca slippers ($98).

There is a good selection for men too — we spotted a bunch of coats, tee-shirts, sweaters, and pants right by the entrance. Click through the gallery above to see a few of our favorite pieces.

The sale runs through Monday at 6pm, but If you stop in today, there will be a happy hour of sorts from 5pm—8pm, where sale associates will offer beer while you shop. Check out the Dealfeed below for more information.
