Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Lady Gaga, Yoko Ono, and Cyndi Lauper have more in common than just being awesome female artists. They're all New Yorkers, and they all had a hand in Barneys New York's latest ad campaign. Entitled "Our Town" and shot by Bruce Weber, it celebrates the department store's New York City roots with the latest from the likes of Isabel Marant and Dries van Noten shot against backdrops that include Central Park, the Carlyle Hotel, and Katz's Deli.

It's not just notable names mixed in with model Ajak Deng, seen above. Rocky Jones, the FDNY's first female battalion chief; nightlife legend Ladyfag; members of the The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center; and the brothers featured in the documentary The Wolfpack make appearances as well.

While any time is a good time to celebrate New York City, this campaign comes at a particular notable time for Barneys: Its Chelsea flagship is set to open in the coming days. The department store wouldn't give Racked a specific opening date, but we do know that these Weber images will be prominently featured in the stores' windows, along with its exclusive products. [Update: On February 9th, WWD wrote that the store will open on Monday, February 15th, with a friends and family preview taking place on Valentine's Day.]
