Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Like artisanal sno-cones and off-the-shoulder tops, suede slide sandals are everywhere this summer. The sophisticated and socially acceptable cousin of the flip-flop, slides — and their cool older sister, mules — are universally flattering (no ankle straps!) and great if you’re feeling lazy (no ankle straps!) They very well could be the most chill shoes you own.

Marais, the Los Angeles-based shoe brand, has a few great pairs right now that are almost half the price of most Mansur Gavriels. The black, pink and yellow slides are $168; the classic mule in black patent leather is $198; and the blue and yellow suede mules are $225.

Stockists in New York City include Reformation, Concrete and Water, and Clare Vivier.
