The Cynthia Rowley Sample Sale Has Plenty of Printed Neoprene and Activewear

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Cynthia Rowley sample sale kicked off this morning at 10am, and we stopped by the West Village store to check it out. We saw lots of printed neoprene and activewear, and there's a whole rack of one-of-a-kind samples to browse.

The sale is all the way in the back of the store past the dressing rooms. The rack to the left holds the aforementioned samples, while to the right are tops and dresses organized by size. Samples that stood out include a pink floral neoprene-esque sweatshirt ($59), a vintage-looking white shift dress ($89), and a pink furry coat ($129).

In the non-sample selection, we found that there was more variety in the larger sizes, with more stock of many styles available in the smaller sizes. Pieces that stood out include a blue flower-print mockneck sleeveless shift dress ($89), a black and white printed neoprene crop top with long sleeves ($59), and a floral v-neck dress in jewel tones ($89). We also spotted a few pairs of jeans for $99.

Activewear is in the back left corner, with tops priced at $39 and pants at $49. Our favorite was a black racerback top with a gold and white heart print. There are also a few styles of coats in this section, which are going for $99.

Shoes ($49) are under the racks along the right-hand side of the space. With the exception of a few pairs of boots, there are only heels available. There were also only about fifteen pairs total. Swim styles are in bins organized by size in the back of the room. One-pieces are $29, while separates are $19. We liked a pair of black and white animal printed bottoms with red trim ($19).

Bags, eyewear, and tights are on a table and shelves in the back of the room behind the bins of swim. Big bags are $89, and small styles are $29—$69. The small styles aren't marked, so be sure to ask sales staff for prices. We liked a mini bucket bag with rhinestone embellishments that is available in multiple color ways. Tights ($9) are in a metal bucket on the table, and they're mostly in gray. There's one tray of eyewear ($39) that is mostly sunglasses, with a couple pairs of regular glasses thrown in.

There isn't a ton of merchandise, so if you're planning to shop the sale we suggest stopping by sooner rather than later. The sale runs through Sunday at 8pm, and you can check out the Dealfeed below for more details.
