The Sachin + Babi Sample Sale Is a Maze of Embroidered Goodness

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We popped into 132 West 36th Street to preview the Sachin + Babi sample sale last night before doors opened to the public. Inside, we found a sea of embroidered and sequin statement pieces — divided between overstock in a full size rng and true samples — at up to 75% off retail prices. Trust us, you're going to want to see all this goodness.

We were assured us that there was plenty of back stock to be filled in throughout the sale — which, we were warned, could get a little crazy in part because the brand phased out its ready-to-wear on its e-commerce site, so this is the only place you'll be able to score a deal this good.

The pricing is pretty straightforward: In the sample section, outerwear, leather, and gowns are $75, while everything else — tops, dresses, skirts, and pants — are $40. It's worth going through each of the racks back here, as we spotted several gems from the brand's early days.

As for the overstock pieces, tops, sweaters, shorts, and short skirts are $75; short dresses, tea-length dresses, ball skirts, and jackets are $125; and long dresses and gowns are $200. Bonus: Most of the dresses at the sale are equipped with pockets, even the gowns.
