Louis Vuitton Swallowed Up That Little Fendi Store in Soho

Fendi today, Louis Vuitton tomorrow — that's how the saying goes, right? The Karl Lagerfeld-helmed brand's departure from the corner of Prince and Greene streets back in January left the perfect opportunity for Louis Vuitton to expand its downtown flagship at 116 Greene Street, and The Shophound noticed over the weekend that the new wing is now open.

The label that helped usher in the age of luxury knickknacks with its bag bugs originally opened here in July 2014 with customized vending machines. And Fendi's far from being done with Soho: It's relocated down the block to a larger space 104 Greene Street, where H. Stern previously (and briefly) resided. This is just another example of Fendi playing the relocation game in New York City as of late — remember its move from Fifth Avenue to Madison Avenue not long ago?

It's no surprise that Louis Vuitton swooped in here so quickly, considering that the two labels are both owned by parent company LVMH. This Soho store, The Shophound points out, now takes up a considerable portion of the block between Prince and Spring streets, where neighbors include Tiffany & Co., Stella McCartney, Y-3 New York, and Rebecca Minkoff.
