Everything at the Helmut Lang and Theory Sample Sale Is Now 50% Off (Update)

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Update: For Thursday, the sale's final day, all prices are now an additional 50% less than what sale prices were on opening day. Wednesday's 25% markdown is reflected in the original report below and in the gallery captions above.

The Theory and Helmut Lang sample sale has hit the halfway mark, so we headed back to the Garment District this morning to see what's left, especially since everything is an additional 25% off the opening day prices. There was a short line waiting at the entrance about 15 minutes before the doors opened, and we're betting that you could incur little delays like this for the remainder of the sale's duration.

All that was left of Helmut Lang started near the registers It was still a sea of white pieces, with a good amount of items in black and a tiny selection of color dotted throughout. All tops and tees were marked down to $38 (from $50), and while there were some blouses and bra tops, the majority of what you'll see is basic tees and long-sleeved shirts.

Coats are here as well, and most of what we saw was from Theory and marked at $117 (from $150). We spotted a teal trapeze coat from Theyskens Theory, as well as an orange puffer with a fur collar from Theory — they're both pictured in the gallery above.

The dress rack in the front was mostly Helmut Lang, and everything's now $53. We noticed there wasn't much of a size assortment, and there are still a significant amount of damaged items (both marked and unmarked) among the racks. At the end of the dress rack were some one-off jackets and blazers ($68).

Pants were in the center of the sale space and are mostly Theory. All pants were marked at $42, with some prints and colors tucked in. We found a few pairs of drawstring shorts from Helmut Lang in white, black, and a blue prints($42), plus a couple of mini and maxi skirts ($38).

In the dedicated Theory section, there were a ton of slim, cropped trousers in various colors. The entire back area was reserved for sweaters ($38), of which there's still a lot to choose. There were also plenty of blazers along the side wall ($68), and what's left of jumpsuits and dresses ($53) were near the men's section.

And speaking of, the menswear was mostly Theory, but we did see a Helmut Lang rack marked entirely as damaged with some tees and other basics ($38). Again, there wasn't a huge assortment of sizes or color here. The sweaters were along the back wall and looked all mixed up, so you may have to dig to find some cool pieces. Another rack had mostly blazers and some hoodies (all $68).

There are definitely some cool pieces if you dig for them, so be prepared for a hunt if you're stopping by today or tomorrow. Be sure to triple-check for stains and damages that may or may not be marked— we saw a lot of snags and make-up stains. The sale ends on Thursday, so don't forget to check the Dealfeed below for more info.
