This Indie Sample Sale Has Lots of Gorgeous Basics, Lingerie

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We stopped by the Mode PR sample sale this morning right before the doors opened to the showroom space at 547 Broadway. You'll find an ample selection of must-have basics from labels late Baserange and Edith A. Miller, as well as quirkier pieces from Ace + Jig and Komakino.

The sale is organized by label, with Samuji first up and to the left after stepping off the elevator. Prices start at $90 for shirts and top out at $480 for coats. We liked the neutral palette of this section, including a white textured top and light blue wide-leg pants standing out. We also liked a simple dropped-hem shift dress with a pleated skirt.

Next up is lingerie label Curriculum Vitae, which has a gorgeous selection of lacy and silky bras ($50), undies ($25), and onesies ($125). We liked that all the pieces were in very wearable hues, including a silk burnt orange onesie. Pieces are hanging on racks along the left-hand wall, as well as displayed on shelves in front of the windows in the back of the space. There are also bras and undies organized by size in bins on a table nearby.

To the right after Curriculum Vitae is the selection of Clyde hats (starting at $88) and leather backpacks. There are stacks of black, white, and beige fedoras, and backpacks are available in a few colorways.

Italian streetwear label Komakino is hanging along the right-hand wall. The selection of tee shirts, hoodies, coats, and pants is 80%—85% off. We liked a graphic tee shirt marked down to $40 (from $210), as well as a hoodie priced at $80 (from $425). We also noted a bomber jacket with a print on the front right side for $320 (was $1,650).

Moving farther into the room along the right-hand wall, Edith A. Miller tees are stacked on a large shelf according to size. There is also a rack of tee-shirt dresses next to the shelf. These styles are one for $15,, or two for $25.

Ace + Jig is on the other side of the Edith A. Miller rack, as well as stacked on a table in the center of the space. Onesies, coats, and dresses are $100, long coats are $125, tops and bottoms are $80, kid's styles are $60, and belts are $30. We liked a burgundy and navy geometric print V-neck jumpsuit here for $100.

Pieces by David Michael are next up, with plenty of flowing silky robes and jackets ranging from $80 to $220. A black silky open-front relaxed fit blazer and a bright, abstract-printed dress were the two best pieces here.

Last but not least is the selection from Baserange, which is stocked with silk tee shirts, lounge pants, shorts, and sweatshirts ranging in price from $25 to $140. Make an outfit out of its boxy white silk tee shirt with a knit collar and perforated leather shorts.

There was a short line forming when we left, but it looked like it was moving quickly. The sale runs through tomorrow at 7pm, and you can check out the Dealfeed below for more details.
