What You Would Have Found at the Diptyque Sample Sale

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Fancy French candle brand Diptyque is taking over C21 Edition today for its annual three-day sample sale beginning bright and early at 8am. We popped in yesterday evening just before 5pm — well into the day-long friends and family hours — to find that while just about all of the standard candles in Baies, Roses, Ambre, and Mimosa were gone (save for one lone unpackaged Rose), there was plenty of everything else.

And we do mean everything, including standard candles ($35, of which there's a limit of ten per purchase), mini candles ($20), scented ovals ($25), room sprays ($35), perfumes (starting at $50) and roll-ons ($25), holiday standard ($35) and mini candles ($20), electric diffusers ($20) sets of mini candles in two ($40), three ($50), five ($50) and ten ($75), and hourglass diffusers ($80) plus their refills ($30). Candle accessories like lids, stands, snuffers, and wick trimmers started at $10. Click through the gallery above to see a sampling of the candles offered.

There were also skin-care products like Nourishing Cleansing Balm ($32), Infused Facial Water ($27), Protective Moisturizing Lotion ($36), Multi-Use Exfoliating Scrub ($32), Face Collection pouch ($38), and Radiance Boosting Powder ($29). On the lower end, there were soaps ($8), hand cream ($15), lip balm ($18), shower gel ($20) and velvet hand lotion ($25).

Be prepared for a wait at any time you stop by and keep an eye on the mini candles. We noticed more than a few items that were beat up pretty badly or had boxes with brown stains. We did get a peek at a dressing room full of candles to restock earlier in the day, but it's unclear when that'll be put out. Check out the Dealfeed below for more details.
