Cannon Beach's Waves of Grain Bakery Opens on Burnside

After seven years in Cannon Beach, Jason and Hillary Fargo's breakfast spot/bakery Waves of Grain Bakery has relocated to Portland, opening up shop on the block across from breakfast staple Screen Door. In addition to a bakery case stocked with pumpkin bread, spelt muffins, and scones, Waves of Grain offers a menu of build-your own biscuit sandwiches (on a choice of buttermilk, sweet potato, or cheese biscuits), topped with everything from chorizo to veggie sausage, to asparagus and sauteed mushrooms. An early soft opening menu also offers sweet and savory French toast (the latter made with rosemary focaccia soaked in parmesan custard), rotating quiches, and sandwiches.

On the sweet side, expect key lime tarts, slices of carrot cake, and cookies; cocktails are "coming soon." Waves of Grain is open now. Hours of operation: 8a.m. to 4p.m., Wednesday through Monday.
